Lifetime commissions third 'Flowers in the Attic' film, 'If There Be Thorns'

Lifetime announced on Thursday that the network is officially working on the third Flowers in the Attic film called There Be Thorns.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first learned the news, Jason Lewis and Rachael Carpani will star in the film. They will play married couple Cathy and Christopher Dollangager.

The couple and Cathy's two sons live together will unaware of their parents' relationship with each others. One of her sons, Bart, will be played by Mason Cook.

The television films are based off V.C. Andrews book series Flowers in the Attic. The network is looking at the possibility of greenlighting the fourth book, Seeds of Yesterday, as well.

In the first film Mason Dye and Kiernan Shipka played Lewis and Carpani's roles, with Wyatt Nash and Rose McIver taking over for the second film, Petals on the Wind.

The second telepic did fairly well for Lifetime, debuting to 3.4 million viewers, though that is nearly half what the first film drew when it debuted.

It at least did better than the 1.6 million who tuned in for the network's most recent film, Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story.
