'Guardians of the Galaxy' headed to fifth box office-topping weekend

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is heading for yet another weekend atop the box office with only one wide release film hitting theaters, The Identical.

GOTG is projected to maybe earn $10 million for its fifth No. 1 weekend during its six-week run, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is closing in on $300 million at the U.S. box office after already becoming the top grossing domestic film of the year.

The faith-based Identical likely will earn $900,000 on Friday, compared to GOTG's $2.7 million, Variety reports. The film, which stars Blake Rayne, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, will be lucky to even match that $2.7 million amount through the three-day period.

The weekend after Labor Day is historically a quiet one for movies, especially this one with college football hitting its second week and the NFL in Week 1.

R-rated comedy Let's Be Cops might snag the second spot at the box office and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will follow as both are projected to earn close to $5 million each, with Cops having the edge with a stronger Friday.

Last weekend's largely ignored wide releases As Above, So Below and The November Man are projected to earn between $4 million and $5 million.
