Garth Brooks takes a spill during performance

Garth Brooks took a bit of a tumble during his first tour performance in Chicago.

In July, the 52-year-old country singer announced that he would be embarking on a comeback tour after a touring hiatus that had lasted more than a decade, as we previously reported. Brooks stopped touring in 2001 in order to focus on his three daughters. Brooks announced that the tour would begin on Sep. 4 in Chicago.

The tour kicked off in Chicago on Friday at the Allstate Arena as planned. What probably wasn't planned was Brooks taking a spill after trying to jump in the air during his set. Brooks fell to the ground and nearly rolled off of the stage. While he may have avoided falling off the stage, his hat wasn't so lucky, TMZ reports.

The incident was captured on video by TMZ:

The singer seemed to bounce back, however. After the performance Brooks posted to his tour's Facebook and Twitter pages asking fans what they thought of the show.

Brooks' tour will continue in Chicago until Sep. 14. The next stop on the tour will be at the Philips Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia from Sep. 19 to Sep. 27.
