Delta flight diverted as passenger throws a fit over reclining seat

Yet another flight had to be diverted on Monday night after one passenger blew her top over the passenger in front of her reclining the seat.

In what was the third fight over legroom and reclining seats in less than two weeks, Delta Air Lines Flight 2370 heading to West Palm Beach from New York was diverted to Jacksonville when a passenger took exception to the person sitting in front her reclining her seat, WPTV reports.

A passenger who sat next to the reclining woman recalled the incident. "This woman who was sitting next to me knitting actually tried reclining her seat back," Aaron Klipin said. "The woman behind her started screaming and swearing and the flight attendant came over and that just exacerbated what was going on, and then she demanded that the flight land."

Apparently the woman was using her tray table to lay her head on as she slept, but that became difficult when the passenger in front started to recline her seat.

Klipin said that the flight attendants attempted to calm Amy Caryn Fine, but she wasn't about to be quieted and kept shouting. He said he heard the 32-year-old woman essentially insist to the attendants, "I don't care about the consequences put this plane down now."

After the plane was diverted to Jacksonville and landed, police escorted Fine off the plane, but the Jacksonville Aviation Authority say that she was simply dropped off at the rental car center. She is said to have admitted she was very emotional after having two dogs die.

According to The Washington Post, the first reclining/legroom incident occurred on Aug. 24 when two passengers fought after one employed a "knee defender" to prevent reclining.

Then on Aug. 26, a passenger on a Paris to Miami flight argued with flight attendants about another passenger reclining in their seat, but the situation escalated when he grabbed an attendant by the arm.

He is facing federal charges after being detained by air marshals on the flight.
