Victoria Beckham cleaning out closet for charity sale

Victoria Beckham is continuing a new celebrity trend: cleaning out a closet for charity. Just as Gwyneth Paltrow did earlier this year, the fashion icon is selling off items from her personal collection for a charitable cause.

Beckham is selling off items from her beautiful collection of dresses on The Outnet and the sale will start on Aug. 20. The site currently has a gallery of the dresses that will be available. A couple of them date back to 2006, including a yellow Roberto Cavalli she wore to a pre-World Cup party for her husband, David Beckham. Another dress from 2006 is a black and white Alexander McQueen she was photographed wearing.

The most recent comes from 2012, a Roland Mouret dress she was seen wearing that year.

Beckham said that she heard about mothers2mothers, the group that the proceeds will go to, while visiting South Africa with Anna Wintour.

“I came back from South Africa and thought, what can I do to help?” the former Spice Girls singer said. “I started going through my closet and found so many great pieces that I’ve worn and thought, maybe I can raise money by auctioning these off.”

m2m said that the proceeds will go to their Mentor Mothers program, which will help HIV-positive mothers in Africa protect their children from being diagnosed with an HIV infection.

Paltrow also sold off items from her closet back in May for a charity that helps teachers get supplies for their students.
