Twins boys accidentally started a wildfire that blazed out of control on Friday on the island of Oahu, fire officials revealed.
The fire, which fire crews were still struggling to get under control in upper Makakilo required about 40 nearby homes to be evacuated, the Star Advertiser reports. As of Saturday afternoon nearly 100 firefighters and 20 companies were involved in trying to put out the blaze.
"It's rough terrain and very steep. The area is hard to access," Makakilo, Honolulu Fire Capt. David Jenkins said. "We have helicopters doing drops, but it's going to be a long fight to deal with this fire."
According to The Associated Press, the 7-year-old boys were playing with a lighter and then 30 mph winds helped do the rest.
So far no buildings have been burned down, but a wall and door of one house did suffer a little fire damage. It isn't yet known how much of the mountain area has been burned by the wildfire.
