Pies, one of the most popular desserts, come in many variations. Cream, chocolate, meats, nuts, and many other ingredients are used to create these sweet pastries. However, fruit pies are classic dishes that have a special taste that is sweet, tangy, and fresh.
Peach pie is one of the most enjoyed fruit varieties. During the summer months, when peaches are in fresh produce, one can best enjoy this dessert although frozen and canned fruit can allow it to be baked any time of the year. According to cdkitchen, August 24 is National Peach Pie Day which gives everyone a great reason to indulge in a huge wedge of this scrumptious dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
As explained by wiseGEEK, there are two main types of peaches: clingstone and freestone. Using freestone to make pie is simpler because the flesh of the peach falls away from the pit instead of clinging to it. Although the freestone peaches are not quite as sweet, they are juicer and larger.
Since National Peach Pie Day is here, this list has ten different variations and ideas for how to enjoy some peach pie. So have a slice to celebrate the harvest and this delicious dessert!
