Released on May 29, 2009 and directed by Pete Docter, Up was the first 3D animated film to open the Cannes Film Festival. During its theatrical release, the film accumulated $731 million. The film focuses on an old widower named Carl Fredricksen whose voice was played by Edward Asner. The other main character is the young Wilderness Explorer whose voice is played by Jordan Nagai.
