Slice of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding cake purchased online

Many people still remember the lavish wedding that took place in 1981 between Diana, Princess of Wales and her husband Prince Charles, whether it was the televised ceremony, Diana's gorgeous dress with its cathedral-length train or the cake!

According to The Telegraph a slice of the wedding cake from Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding was sold for £828 (approximately $1375 U.S. Dollars). The slice of cake was still in its original wax paper and white and silver box, although the buyer was advised not to eat it.

The cake slice was sold online Thursday and The Telegraph reports that buying a piece of cake from a wedding is no new phenomenon. In fact, there are a few royal cake buyers out there who purchase cake from weddings as far back as the wedding of Queen Victoria in 1840.

According to The New York Daily News, Princess Diana and Prince Charles were married 33 years ago in 1981 and divorced in 1996 after having been separated since 1992. But at least someone will get to enjoy a piece of their union!
