Netflix pays $2 million per episode to stream NBC's 'The Blacklist'

Netflix is paying out big for the chance to stream NBC's new hit series The Blacklist, to the tune of $2 million per episode.

The subscription streaming service will begin airing the Sony Pictures TV series next weekend, Deadline is exclusively reporting. Following seasons of Blacklist will hit Netflix after their finales air.

The deal is said to be the biggest for an off-network series, managing to outdo AMC's The Walking Dead, which Netflix is said to have shelled out $1.35 million an episode.

While syndication deals are largely joint operations between streaming services and the network, Netflix apparently isn't into that and prefers to have series before others. Netflix paid $900,000 an episode for New Girl previously to do just that.

The Blacklist will return to NBC this fall for its sophomore season.

Netflix also revealed this week that their upcoming Marco Polo series would be premiering on Dec. 12. The 10-episode series was originally picked up by Starz before the network dropped it.

Marco Polo stars Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong, Zhu Zhu, Tom Wu and others.
