Metta World Peace to change his name to The Pandas Friend

Metta World Peace always tries to find a way to grab headlines. He did so today by announcing on his Twitter page what his new name is going to be. World Peace stated that he will change his name to The Pandas Friend.

Last week, he had announced that he would change his name to something that will reflect Chinese culture because of his move there this year when he plays in the Chinese Basketball Association, reports USA Today.
His affection for pandas was apparent when he tweeted that the first thing he going to do when he arrives in China is take his daughter to see the endangered animals, reports SI.com.
World Peace, whose original name is Ron Artest, played 15 seasons in the NBA. He began his career with the Chicago Bulls before playing with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.
He posted 13.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game over his career. His best years came with the Pacers and the Kings.
In the 2013-14 season, at the age of 34, he played in 29 games for the Knicks amassing 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest, according to basketball-reference.com .
