Country duo Maddie & Tae’s debut single “Girl in a Country Song” is steadily rising on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving national recognition.
“Girl in a Country Song” is a knock at “bro-country,” which is a trend in country music of men only singing about their trucks, beer, and hot girls.
The duo made their national television debut on The Today show, where they performed their hit single, according to Music and Lyrics.
“Girl in a Country Song” has received over 3.5 million views within two weeks on YouTude, according to NewsOK. The video consists of the some redneck boys dressed scantily and doing all of the things girls in country music videos do, including farming, dancing on a tailgate, and getting hosed down.
Although Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye look like any other country singer in Nashville with their long blonde hair, the girls set themselves apart with their satirical approach to music.
The girls may be making fun of the boys of country music, but they mean well.
“We don’t want to bring them down, we just want to lift the ladies up as well,” Tae said on the duo’s official website.
The girls are currently at #71 on the Billboard charts but are sure to climb up as their song gains moment.
“Girl in a Country Song” by Maddie & Tae is currently available on iTunes.
