Julianne Hough has shimmied her way from dancer to judge on reality show Dancing with the Stars.
Hough will be the show’s fourth judge on the upcoming 19th season, according to The Washington Post.
This is the first major change to the judging panel of judges that has included Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli since the show began in 2005. The show has had guest judges, Hough being one of them, but has never had an official fourth judge.
Hough was a dancer on the show for four seasons and has taken a six-year hiatus until now. She won the Mirror Ball Trophy twice on Dancing with the Stars, which is one of the many accomplishments that make Hough qualified to judge the show.
“‘Dancing with the Stars’ has always been a part of my family,” Hough said on Good Morning America. “That’s where it all began for me, so it just kind of made sense.”
Things could get interesting with Hough as judge with her brother, Derek Hough, competing on the show. Hough said on her Good Morning America appearance that she would not show favoritism or go out of her way to be tough to her older brother.
The show begins its 19th season September 19 on ABC.
