Jennifer Johnson, who was the showrunner and executive producer of Fox's The Following, has stepped down.
According to Deadline, who first reported the news, she only stepped into the role ahead of last season.
She will remain with Warner Bros. TV, who produces the series, though. Johnson currently has an overall deal with the company and will remain on board for development.
The Following writers Brett Mahoney and Alexi Hawley are now also executive producers. They are also set to co-run the show with executive producer and director Marcos Siega.
The change-up is not expected to delay production on the midseason series, which stars Kevin Bacon, as no filming has started and they are still putting together the scripts.
The departure comes only a day after Showtime decided not to renew creator and showrunner of Ray Donovan Ann Biderman's contract.
While Johnson might not have been a great fit for The Following, Biderman's departure is due to the constant budget overruns during the first two seasons. She isn't stepping completely away from the project and will hang around as a creative consultant.
