Guy Ritchie eyeing Charlie Hunnam for title role in 'King Arthur'

Director Guy Ritchie is reportedly interested in snagging Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam for the title role of Warner Bros. King Arthur.

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Hunnam is in final negotiations to play King Arthur in a franchise that the studio is hoping will comprise six films.

Hunnam is starring in the upcoming final season of Sons of Anarchy and will also be in the sequel to the somewhat successful Guillermo del Toro film Pacific Rim.

The news comes just two weeks after it was rumored that Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan was who the Sherlock Holmes director was angling to cast. Landing the role would have been a long shot anyway, as he is still on the hook for two more Grey films.

Luther star also might appear in the planned Warner Bros. franchise, but as Bedevere, who is one of the older knights that sides with King Arthur.

Joby Harold penned the first script, with Ritchie of course on board to direct. Akiva Goldsman is producing King Arthur alongside Tory Tullen, Lionel Wigram and Harold.

Warner Bros. has been eager to get a King Arthur franchise put together, but has been unable to get very far up until now. One previous effort involved a script from John Hodge and then one from David Dobkin, which was scrapped due to a high budget.
