Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been suspended for the first four week of the NFL season after testing positive for a banned drug.
According to ESPN, Scandrick was found to have MDMA, or ecstasy, in his system.
Scandrick was said to have used this substance while in Mexico earlier this year, but he did not know what the substance was, or that it was banned by the NFL, when he took it.
Last season, Scandrick started every game at cornerback and made 64 total tackles, had 2 interceptions and had two quarterback sacks.
This is just the latest blow to an already poor Cowboys defense. In May, the Cowboys lost linebacker Sean Lee for the season after he tore his ACL and in late July rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence broke his foot during training camp.
According to CBS, Scandrick tried to appeal the suspension, but was denied by the NFL.
Scandrick was a fifth round draft pick by the Cowboys in 2008. He has 267 total tackles, 8.5 sacks and five interceptions in his career.
