The Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Andy Dalton have agreed to a new six-year deal.
ESPN reports that the deal will be worth a total of $115 million dollars.
Dalton was in his last year of his rookie contract after being drafted in 2011 out of TCU.
His rookie contract was a total of $5.2 million, according to Sports Illustrated.
So far during the Bengals training camp, Dalton has being gaining high remarks from his offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.
“I’ve been impressed with him since I’ve gotten to be the coordinator, but I’ve been really impressed with him over the last couple of days, because I think he’s really starting to buy into the urgency, getting the ball out of his hands and making great decisions,” he said. “That was a great throwaway when we were backed up. There were times in the past the ball might have gone someplace else.”
In his three-year career, Dalton has passed for 11,360 yards, with 80 touchdowns and 49 interceptions. He has a career completion percentage of 60.9, according to ESPN Stats.
This deal is similar to the one that Colin Kaepernick received from the San Francisco 49ers in June, as we previously reported.
According to Bengals.com, Dalton is just the fourth quarterback to make the playoffs in each first three NFL seasons.
