CeeLo Green entered a plea of no contest Friday on one felony count of furnishing an controlled substance, in this case, ecstasy.
He previously pleaded not guilty to the charge, but decided to change his plea in court during a preliminary hearing, AFP reports. He was only in court while there were deliberations on whether there was enough evidence for a trial.
The drug charge stems from allegations that he slipped a 33-year-old woman ecstasy while they were at a Los Angeles restaurant. The Grammy winner then went back to her hotel room with her. Due to a lack of evidence, Green was never charged for rape of an intoxicated person.
Friday's plea of no contest allows him to maintain innocence, according to The Associated Press. The move also prevents the plea from being used against him should the woman take him to civil court.
The special plea, however, could be used against him should he be charged with another drug-related offense at some point down the road.
Green was sentenced to three years of probation and 45 days of community service, which he can do through the MusiCares Foundation.
