This week’s column is filled with a bevy of differing movie genres including dramedy, romantic comedy and thriller. My Old Lady is a dramedy where an American inherits a Paris apartment with an unexpected attachment. Laggies is a romantic comedy about a woman, who needs a break from her mundane life, so she lies to her fiancé about going on a retreat and spends the time hanging out with adolescent friends instead. Finally, The Captive is a thriller where the case of the 8-year-old disappearance of a woman is brought back to light. All three flicks have tremendous star power behind them, but what might surprise moviegoers as to who is in each movie’s cast since some actors and actresses are performing out of their usual movie genre. Seeing their favorite actor or actress in a role outside of their typical genre could delight them or anger audiences, we shall see!
