On Monday, three bridges on key roads leading into the Ukrainian city of Donetsk were blown up.
Separatist fighters were driven out of Slovyansk and other eastern towns. Rebels joined forced in Donetsk and some Russian rebels have declared independence as the Donetsk People’s Republic.
According to the Associated Press, they do not know who blew up the bridges.
According to the Road Transportation Agency of Donetsk Region, two other bridges that stand between Slovyansk and Donetsk were also destroyed. The bridges were located in the villages of Zakitne and Seleznevka.
Over 400 people are already dead, and thousands have been left homeless since fighting erupted in April. An Organization for the Security and Co-operation in Europe met on Sunday in Kiev.
“The Kiev authorities promise to tighten a ring around Donetsk and meticulously clear it of fighters," said Konstantin, a cook, according to Reuters.
No word yet on whether President Poroshenko will call for another cease-fire. Russia is asking that the EU put pressure on the Ukraine, which it says created a "massive military operation which has resulted in the deaths of peaceful people," according to the Associated Press.
