This Week in Pop Music: Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ meets Yankovic, Shakira at World Cup closing ceremonies, Adele shots down rumors, and MAGIC!’s ‘Rude.’

This week in Pop music: Weird Al Yankovic parodies Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” Shakira is the highlight at the World Cup Closing Ceremony, Adele shots down rumors about a tour and new album “25,” and MAGIC!’s song “Rude” is at the top of the Hot 100.
Weird Al Yankovic has been a very hot topic this whole week. He has been making parodies of this year’s hottest music including Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” Yankovic’s song is called “Tacky” and had some help from Nerdist to release it as we previously reported. You can check out the lyrics with this lyrical clip.

The opening ceremonies for the World Cup may not have been that best they could have been but that’s ok! The closing ceremonies blew them away! J.Lo, Claudia and Pitbull did an average performance but nothing special for the opening ceremonies, while Shakira with Carlinhos Brown closed the cup with a wonderful performance as we previously reported. This wasn’t Shakira’s first time closing the World Cup and her experience made her shine through.

The World Music Awards tweeted on Tuesday that Adele confirms her new album 25. Turns out the tweet was just a rumor. Martin Mills, chairman of the parent company to Adele’s XL recording talked to Billboard about the tweet claiming that there is “no truth in this.”

The Canadian band, MAGIC!, bumped Iggy Azalea’s song “Fancy” from number one on the Hot 100 with their song “Rude.” Azalea is still in spots two and three with “Fancy” (featuring Charlie X) and “Problem” (with Ariana Grande) as we previously reported. MAGIC! has some shoes to fill since they are the first band since Fun to reach the top with their first single.
