The Ottawa Senators have retained their goaltender of the future by resigning restricted free agent Robin Lehner to a three-year deal worth a total of $6.675 million.
The 23-year-old has appeared in 61 games for the Senators, posting a 21-24-10 record. He has a career .918 save percentage and has allowed an average of 2.82 goals per game, reports CBS Sports.
Last season, he appeared in 36 games, which is the most of his four seasons with the club. He amassed a 12-15-6 record, while allowing a 3.06 goals-against average.
In his time with the Senators, he has been the backup goalie to Craig Anderson, whose contract is up at the end of the 2014-15 season.
Lehner, a native of Sweden, was selected by the Senators with the 46th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, according to The Ottawa Citizen.
Before joining the team in the NHL, he suited up for the Binghamton Sens in the AHL. The Sens, led by Lehner, won the 2011 Calder Cup. Lehner won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy, which is given to the most valuable player of the playoffs, that year.
