For the last 50 years, football players who have had aspirations of playing in the NFL have envisioned themselves going to New York City and walking across the stage at Radio City Music Hall after hearing their named called by the commissioner. Next year, this scene will be in another city.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced on Thursday that the two finalists to host the 2015 NFL Draft are Chicago and Los Angeles.
“We had 12 cities that were interested,” Goodell said, according to The Los Angeles Times. “We felt the best thing to do was to focus on the three cities, because they had such a tremendous interest. There are very attractive aspects to each of those cities. Because we don’t have the appropriate dates in May our focus is completely on Los Angeles and Chicago. They both have tremendous bids.”
Radio City is not available in next year around late-April or early-May, when the Draft typically is held. It will likely be either April 22-25 or April 29-May2.
Furthermore, Goodell stated that the league is looking at different ways of spicing up the draft. One way of doing this would be to expand the event to four days, reports Detroit Free Press.
