Detroit Tiger’s all-star slugger and veteran Miguel Cabrera will not participate in the 2014 Home Run Derby. Mike Trout of the Los Angeles will not be involved in the summer classic as well. Cabrera decided this past Sunday night he will not be swinging for the fences. Trout voiced his same stance on Sunday also.
“I don’t want to mess with my swing anymore. I’ve got enough issues,” said Cabrera, reports The Detroit News.
Trout says he would rather watch the event and be a fan instead of being involved with the Home Run Derby sources tell The Detroit News.
On the season, Both Cabrera and Trout are contributing similar stats to their respected ball clubs. Cabrera is batting .308, hitting 14 home runs, and driving in 68 runs batted in, proven by ESPN.
While Trout is batting .308, powering 20 home runs, and driving in 63 runs batted in, according to ESPN.
The Home Run Derby will be broadcasted on July 14 at Target Field in Minneapolis. Many fans will be in attendance to witness the home run spectacle that takes place every single MLB season. However, two of the biggest names in the American League will not be partaking in the slugfest.
