Jason Spezza traded from Ottawa to Dallas (Report)

The Ottawa Senators have traded center Jason Spezza to the Dallas Stars for three players and a draft pick after the star waived his no-trade-clause.

Otttawa will receive Alex Chiasson, Nicholas Paul and Alexander Guptill, along with a second round draft pick in 2015. The Stars will also receive Ludwig Karlsson, according to NHL.com.

The deal comes after Senators general manager Bryan Murray told The Canadian Press that he didn’t want to trade Spezza because he would not get the value in return, according National Post

The CBC reports, Spezza is in his last year of his contract that will pay him $4 million, but the salary cap hit will be $7 million.

Toronto Sports Net Analyst Bob McKenzie said that there was no new contract with the trade.

Spezza denied one trade already to the Nashville Predators, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

Spezza played his entire career in Ottawa after being drafted number two overall in 2001. He has 687 points in 686 career games, but has only played a full season twice.
