Actress Sofia Vergara and singer Jessica Simpson are celebrating their birthdays today.

Colombian film and television actress, television hostess and model Sofia Vergara turns 42 today. Vergara had been widely known for co-hosting two television shows for Spanish-language television network, Univisión, in the late 1990s. Her first notable acting job in English was in the 2003 film Chasing Papi. She went on to appear in the films Four Brothers, Meet the Browns and Madea Goes to Jail, receiving an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. Her recent success on television also earned her roles in the films The Smurfs, New Year's Eve, Happy Feet Two, The Three Stooges and Machete Kills. In 2012 and 2013, she was the top-earning actress on US television.

Vergara currently stars on the ABC series Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. She has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role. In 2014, she was ranked as the 32nd most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.

Vergara has a son, Manolo, with her former husband Joe Gonzalez.

Jessica Simpson, 34

Singer, actress, television personality and fashion designer Jessica Simpson turns 34 today. Simpson rose to fame with the release of her debut single, "I Wanna Love You Forever", which peaked inside the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut album, Sweet Kisses, went on to be certified 2x Platinum in the United States, and sold over four million copies worldwide. Her 2001 single "Irresistible" became her second Top 20 hit, while the album of the same name became her first to enter the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, and went on to become certified Gold. Her third studio album, In This Skin, went on to become her best selling album, receiving a 3x Platinum certification and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Simpson released A Public Affair in 2006, and the album became her third Top 10 hit on the Billboard 200.

Simpson transitioned into acting, appearing in films including The Dukes of Hazzard in 2005, Employee of the Month in 2006, and Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous in 2008.

Simpson is married to NFL player Eric Johnson, and have two children, daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson and son Ace Knute Johnson.
