Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was critically injured in a car crash in New Jersey Saturday morning. The crash involved six cars and left one person dead.
State police told NBC Philadelphia that Jordan was traveling in a limo bus, which overturned. The accident happened at 1 a.m. around Exit 7A on the New Jersey Turnpike, near Cranbury.
The early investigation shows that a tractor trailer had caused the crash. Six cars were involved.
Sgt. Gregory Williams of the New Jersey State Police told CNN that Morgan’s limo was the only one that overturned. He is among the four people rushed to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment. While hospital officials would not confirm his identity, police did say that the patient is the former Saturday Night Live star.
Williams did confirm that there has been one fatality. In total, seven people were rushed to area hospitals.
Morgan had performed at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, Delaware Friday night.
Morgan is an Emmy-nominated actor who appeared on SNL from 1996 to 2004, before leaving for the Tracy Morgan Show. Tina Fey cast him as Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock, which earned him an Emmy nod in 2009. He recently voiced a character in the animated hit Rio 2.
UPDATE: His rep released a statement: "Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available."
