Sigourney Weaver will appear in James Cameron’s 'Avatar' trilogy

Sigourney Weaver will appear in the next Avatar film, directed by James Cameron.

According to MTV, James Cameron said of Weaver, “Sigourney and I have a long creative history, dating back to 1985 when we made Aliens. We’re good friends who’ve always worked well together, so it just feels right that she’s coming back for the Avatar sequels. Her character of Grace Augustine, as fans know, died in the first movie, so she’s playing a different and in many ways more challenging character in the upcoming films.”

According to MTV, Weaver will be playing a new character in the trilogy. She is the second star to be resurrected for the Avatar sequels. Also returning to the cast will be Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Stephen Lang. According to The Verge, Weaver will be returning for all three Avatar sequels. The first Avatar film was originally released in 2009. James Cameron wrote and directed this film.

Avatar 2 will arrive in December 2016.
