New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton has been presented a no-jail plea deal. June 30 is Felton’s scheduled plea deal date. What is being offered to him is a $5,000 fine and 500 hours of community service. With strict gun laws in New York, he could have faced a seven-year prison term with an outcome very different. He is thankful for deal that has transpired.
"I just want to say that I want to thank the DA for being fair to me in this whole situation. I want to thank all my friends, my family especially, my fans, everybody just for supporting me and understanding the person I am, said Felton, reported by ESPN New York.
Back in February, The Knicks basketball player was arrested after he allegedly threatened his ex-wife Adriane Raymondo-Felton with a firearm. Raymond-Felton went to the authorities before the New York Knicks played a game against the Dallas Mavericks. A week prior to the allegations, Felton’s ex-wife filled for divorce. Raymondo-Felton has suggested Felton cheated on her with multiple women while they were married, noted the New York Post.
Despite what allegedly transpired, Felton will get a second chance and be able to play in the NBA next season. He is coming off of a career low in points per game, averaging only 9.7, according to NBA.com.
