Hollywood gets some good news from the state of Michigan. Michigan has approved $13.5 in incentives for the fourth installment of Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop.

“We are excited to welcome Axel Foley and the Beverly Hills Cop franchise back to Michigan,” said Margaret O’Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office, according to Click on Detroit. “This project will highlight locations throughout metro Detroit that speak to the city’s heritage while making significant investments in the community by hiring Michigan workers and local businesses.”
The money was approved by the Michigan Film Office, and the movie will be filmed in and around Detroit. Murphy will be playing the police officer, Axel Foley again. According to the Associated Press, Brett Ratner will direct the film and Jerry Bruckheimer will be producing with Paramount Pictures.
The film office in Michigan estimates that the filmmakers will spend $56.6 million in the state. The movie could employ as many as 352 Michigan workers.
The first Beverly Hills Cop movie became popular with fans in 1984. It was an immediate commercial success, bringing in $235 million.
