Joel Osteen hosts new channel on SiriusXM satellite radio

Texas pastor Joel Osteen is getting his own channel on SiriusXM satellite radio.

SiriusXM has 25.8 million subscribers worldwide. Osteen said that Sirius XM first asked him about the possibility of doing a radio show five years ago.

"Five years ago we were still growing," said Osteen, who studied television and radio at Oral Roberts University, according to the Associated Press. "I didn't think we could put the time and energy into it that we can now. We're much more established and have a bigger library. It feels really right now."

Osteen preaches to 40,000 people each week in Houston. Already known for television evangelism, Osteen’s loyal viewers can tune into his Trinity religious TV network. His programs can be seen across the country.

Osteen’s increasing fan base led to even larger broadcasts. Osteen’s broadcast of America’s Night of Hope was taped at Yankee Stadium. The motivational event brought in 27,000 people, according to KSAT.com.

All of that remains in fine standing in preparation for the new programs on the Sirius XM Channel. The new channel will feature live call-in shows hosted by Osteen and his wife, Victoria Osteen, who is also a pastor.
