In today’s music industry, constantly rising and fading trends leave executives and producers desperate for names they can count on to consistently find their audience.
For over a decade, now, Jack White has been one of those names, and his latest release, Lazaretto, will only add fuel to his fire as it topped the Billboard 200 its first week out, as well as set a record for vinyl LP sales.
This makes White two-for-two in reaching number one as far as his solo releases go. His 2012 album, Blunderbuss, was certified gold in the US and UK.
The vinyl edition of Lazaretto surpasses Pearl Jam’s first week sales of their 1994 release Vitalogy, reports Billboard.
White, who broke onto the scene in the early 2000’s playing with then-wife Meg White as The White Stripes, also found success with side projects The Raconteurs and
Third Man Records, White’s label that has released all of White’s albums since 2007, as well as other artists like Loretta Lynn, Cold War Kids, and Drive-By Truckers, make a point of release nearly all of their artists’ LP’s in vinyl form.
White has already begun touring in conjunction with the release of Lazaretto.
