The FBI rescued 168 kids involved in sex trade as well as arrested 281 pimps in the past week.
The FBI reveals that they conducted Operation Cross Country VIII, which is a week long enforcement action that addresses child sex trafficking throughout this country. The operation was spread through 106 cities and across 54 FBI division fields nationwide. They managed to recover 168 kids victimized in prostitution as well as arrested 281 pimps on federal charges.
The Celebrity Cafe noted that the federal agency rescued nearly 3,600 children through 8 total operations since 2008. Along with the children being rescued, Operation Cross Country also made 1,450 convictions and a seizure of over $3 million in assets.
According to The Washington Times, nearly 10 percent of the rescued children were lost in the child welfare system as stated by the officials. John Ryan, the president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children announced that one in seven missing U.S kids are bought into sex trade and two-thirds of them belong to the child welfare system.
Out of over 600,000 missing children last year, 40 percent were under 18 according to the FBI database.
As revealed by the law enforcement officials, the pimps would be prosecuted to the law's fullest extent.
