A startling number of people received emergency care. EMS evaluated over 50 people, and 36 were brought to hospitals, according to Rolling Stone. It was considered a Phase 2 Mass Casualty Incident because of the number of people needed to be taken to hospitals. At least, 15 ambulances were lined up outside TD Garden. The emergency scene included people in stretchers near police cars.

There were no fatalities. EMS workers reported that some of the fans were suffering from conditions related to drug and alcohol use.

Mike Santostefano, a concert goer, told The Boston Globe, “You couldn’t breathe if you were on the floor. It was the best and worst time ever. A lot of people who couldn’t handle themselves. People who don’t do drugs come here and do drugs.”

The concert on Monday was the beginning of the Swedish DJ’s tour in the eastern United States and Europe. The tour is scheduled to end in Spain in September.
