Doug Block explores marriage in HBO film '112 Weddings'

Doug Block took time to promote his new HBO documentary, 112 Weddings.

112 Weddings debuts on Monday on HBO. Documentary filmmaker Doug Block is a filmmaker who revisits couples for whom he shot wedding videos.

He has shot weddings for over 20 years, according to The Guardian. Block’s other films include a movie about his parents’ marriage and a film about empty nest syndrome. In the HBO documentary series, he asks the couples about their marriages, and what happens after the big ceremony.

"I loved the idea of starting a movie where most Hollywood movies end, which is the bride coming down the aisle," said Block, according to the Associated Press.

The couples were glad to discuss their marriages, dating, and all of the choices along the way. They discussed how they felt after they met their soul mates. Janice and Alexander Caillet of Newton, Massachusetts talked at length about why they had a “commitment ceremony” instead of a marriage. Not all of the marriages had happy endings. Some of them ended unhappily in divorce.
