Antoine Mason, who played his first three years of college basketball at Niagara University, announced that he would be transferring to Auburn University for his final season.
He averaged 25.6 points per game last year and was the second leading scorer in the country last year, behind Creighton senior Doug McDermott.
Mason, who graduated from Niagara, will be eligible to play immediately for the Tigers. His runner-up choice was Providence College.
"It was a tough decision," Mason told ESPN.com. "It came down to intangibles."
Mason led Niagara to the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season championship and a berth in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
The Queens, N.Y. is the son of former New York Knick Anthony Mason and the brother of Anthony Mason Jr., who starred at St. John’s.
Mason joins a very talented group of transfers the first year head coach Bruce Pearl has brought in. Pearl also inked KC Ross-Miller from New Mexico State, Cinmeon Bowers, who is considered one of the top junior college transfers in the country, and Marshall transfer Kareem Canty. Like Mason, Ross-Miller and Bowers will be eligible to play this upcoming season, according to NBC Sports.
