Amtrak train was hit on the train track in Mansfield, Massachusetts

On Sunday, an Amtrak train hit a vehicle on the train tracks, killing three people.

Train services were suspended and have now been restored. Officials posted the most recent information on Twitter.

The vehicle was an SUV that was headed north to Boston. Two men and one woman were in the car.

This had a great impact on average commuters traveling along the Boston corridor. The accident made it impossible to have regular Amtrak service to and from Boston and Providence, Rhode Island on Monday morning, according to the Associated Press.

According to the Boston Globe, Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the Bristol County district attorney, confirmed that investigators responded to the scene. Mansfield Chief of Police Ronald Sutton said that police were investigating “a very large crime scene.”

The train was traveling at about midnight. There were 180 passengers on the Amtrak train. None of them were injured. The accident caused changed service at South Station, Back Bay Station and Route 128 Station on Monday morning. There were delays in commuter trains.
