The jury president for the upcoming film season will be Frenchman Alexandre Desplat, who is a six-time Oscar nominee and a winner of the Golden Globe.

Desplat, 49, has been looked upon quite favorably by Hollywood. Desplat is responsible for 70 soundtracks and dozens of themes for the TV series. He was first recognized for winning the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for The Beat That My Heart Skipped, and a Golden Globe for The Painted Veil.
More recent scores for Desplat include Godzilla, The King's Speech, Argo, and Philomena, according to the Associated Press. Desplat joins Georges Delerue who won an Academy Award for A Little Romance, Michel Legrand, and Maurice Jarre, according to Rfimusique.
Desplat also composed the score of the Hollywood film, Girl with a Pearl Earring. Desplat will lead the team of critics who oversee the 71st edition of the Venice Film Festival. The festival often showcases unconventional, artistic films, and finally awards the Golden Lion for top film. The festival runs this year from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6.
