‘Jupiter Ascending,’ starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, will hit theaters later in February

Summer movie fans don’t get upset. Jupiter Ascending, the film that was originally supposed to hit movie theaters in July, has changed its release date. The space odyssey starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum has been moved to February.

According to Deadline, the VFX budget is a major cause for the change in release date.

Jupiter Ascending is co-financed by Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow. The Wachowski brothers are best known for The Matrix movies, also produced by Warner Bros. Part of the reason for the delay is that filmmakers wanted to improve the special effects work.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jupiter Ascending isn’t the only movie that got moved. Warner previously moved the release of Gangster Squad from September to January.

Even though fans have to wait for the film, the trailer is still making its way online. Producers are hoping that special effects in the Wachowski’s intergalactic universe will be something to see when the film finally hits the theaters on Feb. 6.

In the meantime, here is the trailer:
