White Sox fan catches wild bat, saves the baby behind her (Video)

The Chicago White Sox played the Cleveland Indians on Memorials Day in a Central Division matchup. The White Sox won the game 6-2, but that wasn’t the big story of the game. Eileen Depesa, a White Sox fan sitting along the third base line caught a baseball bat that was flying towards her in the bottom of the second inning.

Tyler Flowers, the White Sox catcher, was up at the plate with a 1-1 count and 2 outs. He swung and missed, losing a grip on his bat and sent it flying through the air towards the Indians dugout.

As everyone else ducked for cover, including the man to her right, she reached her right hand into the sky and snagged the lumber one handed. The crowd at U.S. Cellular Field responding to her catch with a loud ovation according to YahooSports.

As good as the catch was, it was more special because of where the bat would have landed had she not stopped it. Directly behind her was a mother with her baby and the bat was headed directly for them. "I was more concerned with protecting the baby seated behind me." said Depesa via MLB.com.
