Last night at the White House correspondents' dinner, also known to many as Nerd Prom, President Barack Obama delivered jokes and captured the attention of all in attendance. This is a yearly gathering of members of the media in Washington D.C.
Celebrities, members of the media and political figures all gather together to celebrate Nerd Prom 2014, this year featured jokes, honesty and even mentioned Colorado legalizing marijuana.
Joel McHale hosted the evening and did not pull any punches with the audience, Vanity Fair added. When McHale was featured on stage he appeared to be nervous and took some clear risks with material. Overall it was claimed that his routine did not go smoothly.
It was President Obama who stole the night with his ability to make fun of projects that didn't go smoothly as planned such as the roll out of HealthCare.gov. "In 2008 my slogan was, 'Yes we can.' In 2013 my slogan was Control, Alt, Delete," the President remarked.
This dinner always features some direct jabs at the media community in attendance but President Obama didn't hold back. Joking that he was jet-lagged following his trip to Malaysia but that is the lengths that he has to go to get CNN coverage.
At the end of his speech, President Obama went to show a video clip that failed to load and Former Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius stepped up to save the day saying that she had seen this a time or two before, The Orlando Sentinel added.
The only thing at this dinner that was missing was Frank Underwood himself from House of Cards, last year Kevin Spacey stole the show with his Cards spoof video that went viral.
