Steve Carell stars in Bennett Miller’s ‘Foxcatcher’ at the Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival continues, and as it does, bold new films are premiering to audiences. Actor Steve Carell and director Bennett Miller are making a splash with Foxcatcher.

"It was so far outside of his comfort zone," Miller said of Carell's performance in Foxcatcher, according to the Associated Press. "I've never seen Steve do anything that would give any material evidence that he could do this. We just chatted and I heard how he thought and was thinking about the character, and I had a vision for it working."

Carell won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for his work in The Office. He plays a millionaire in the film that is already generating Oscar buzz, according to The Huffington Post.

Bennett Miller is a director, cinematographer, producer who has worked on Capote and Moneyball. Miller says that his style on Foxcatcher is not so much telling a story but “observing a story.” Miller was glad to take on the story of Olympic Wrestling Champion Mark Schultz, and work with actor Steve Carell, who plays John du Pont in the film.

Foxcatcher will be released by Sony Pictures Classics on November 14.
