A photo showing firefighters coping with wildfires near Escondido is gaining attention on Facebook.
The picture shows firefighters resting after battling Coco’s Fire. The owners of the Alehouse wrote “thank you” and posted the photo to Facebook. The Facebook post proved to be extraordinarily popular, receiving more than 30,000 likes on the Alehouse’s Facebook page.
“We were kind of shocked at how people responded honestly but I guess it just really shows you how much that meant to everybody because of what they did,” said Monica Calles, owner of the Plan 9 Alehouse, according to CBS8. “It touched us, so we passed it on.”
In addition to posting the photo, the Plan 9 Alehouse agreed to offer free food to all of the tired firefighters to show their appreciation for combatting the fires and saving so many homes.
Evacuation orders were issued to hundreds of homeowners on Thursday, after the fires began in San Diego County. The wildfires grew to 1,200 acres and spread toward Escondido, according to the LA Times.
