Hi Rez - 'Beautiful Struggle' review

Lauderdale based rapper, Hi-Rez mixtape ‘Beautiful Struggle’ will be available Tuesday, May 13, 2014. His mixtape includes seven tracks. Also, It is available on ITunes and Amazon. An explicit and clean version is available as well. “Gum Drop” is the only single that can be purchased separate. The album includes the following singles in chronological order: “Beautiful Struggle”, “Sick N’ Tired”, “Gum Drop Stupid B****”, “Avatar”, “Murda”, and “Wait Till Tomorrow”. The total length of the album is 22:18. My top choices are “Stupid B****”, “Murdda”, and “Wait Till Tomorrow”.

Honestly, “Stupid B****” reminds me of Eminem’s “Stan”. The lyrics are different, but the concept has hints of “Stan” as well as “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna. The song evokes anger, frustration, and violence. The song is raw. It makes you wonder who he is talking about. “Murdda” is that coming up single. It is a common single that most artists do several times. In this song, he showcases his story telling skills. Story teller rappers demonstrate excellent lyricism. It’s more than just the money, the cars, and the women. At one point, I wondered if he planned on giving a shout out to every country and state. Female Vocals and Rappers are always a successful combination. This is why I like “Wait Till Tomorrow”. In my opinion, this song sums up the mix-tape ‘Beautiful Struggle’. Life is a struggle, but it is worth working through. Opening up to the listener and truly giving an authentic emotion will make any song resonate. I believe he did that. You can tell when someone’s emotions are not fully invested into the song.

Overall, I enjoy Hi-Rez smooth delivery and thought out lyrics. Occasionally, he sings his lyrics. The mix-tape price is fair, and I look forward to hearing more from him.
