Celebrity reactions to the death of Maya Angelou: Katie Couric, Alyssa Milano, Ryan Seacrest and more

The tragic death of Maya Angelou has left those she has inspired, touched and impacted all around the world in mourning.

Angelou was one of the most famous American poets of the 20th century, best known for her memoir, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.
Angelou has had many inspiring moments throughout the years, one of them being in 1993 when she read the poem “On the Pulse of the Morning” for President Bill Clinton’s inauguration.

The poet, who died in her home town in North Carolina at the age of 86, also made history as the e the first African American woman to direct a film in Hollywood. In 1998, she directed the film Down in the Delta.
