Celebrity Birthdays, May 5: Adele, Danielle Fishel and Brian Williams

Singer Adele, actress Danielle Fishel, and reporter Brian Williams are all celebrating their birthdays today.

Adele, 26

Singer-songwriter Adele turns 26 today. After a friend posted her demo on MySpace in 2006, Adele was offered a recording contract. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 and received great critical and commercial success. It was certified four times platinum in the U.K. and double platinum in the U.S. She received the Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance awards at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

She released her second album, 21, in 2011. The albums success surpassed her debut, earning her six Grammy awards, including Album of the Year. The album has been certified 16 times platinum in the U.K., and in the U.S. it is certified Diamond.

Adele was listed at number five on VH1's 100 Greatest Women in Music. In 2013, she received an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for "Skyfall", written for the James Bond film of the same name. Adele is currently dating charity entrepreneur, Simon Konecki, and have a daughter together.

Danielle Fishel, 33

Actress and television personality Danielle Fishel turns 33 today. Fishel first appeared in the television series Full House. In 1993, she landed the role of Topanga Lawrence on ABC's Boy Meets World. The show ended in 200 after seven years. In 1998, she took home a Young Star for Best Performance by a Young Actress in a Comedy TV Series.

After Boy Meets World ended, Fishel appeared in several small budget films including National Lampoon's Dorm Daze, National Lampoon's Dorm Daze 2: College at Sea, Gamebox 1.0 and The Chosen One.

Fishel also appeared as a host on MTV's Say What? Karaoke, Style Network's The Dish, Fuse TV's The Fuse 20, and on Chelsea Lately on E! Network.

Fishel graduated from California State University in 2013, and married Tim Belusco, whom she also met in school. Fishel will appear on The Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, reprising her role of Topanga.

Brian Williams, 55

Reporter Brian Williams turns 55 today. Williams is currently news anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, a position he's held since 2004. Williams first worked in broadcasting for KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1981. The following year he covered news in the Washington, D.C. area at TV station WTTG, then worked in Philadelphia for WCAU. In 1987, he broadcast in New York City at WCBS.

Williams joined NBC News in 1993, where he anchored the national Weekend Nightly News and was chief White House correspondent. During his first year as anchor for NBC Nightly News, Williams covered two disasters; the Asian tsunami and Hurricane Katrina. His work with NBC earned them a Peabody Award, for their high levels of journalistic excellence.

Williams married Jane Gillan Williams in 1986. They have two children, Allison and Douglas Williams. Alilison currently stars on the HBO series Girls.
