NBA icon and president of the New York Knicks Phil Jackson says he has recommended superstar Carmelo Anthony not to opt out of is contract. After having a sit down dinner last month with Anthony, Jackson discussed his future plans for the Knicks organization. He stated if the all-star forward decides to stick around that in the summer of 2015 there is a possibility of obtaining two headline players to surround Anthony.
However, according to Jackson the former scoring champion says he will “think about it”. That is a different answer from what Carmelo was saying earlier in the NBA season. He wanted to test the free agent market, according to the New York Daily News. Perhaps he has a change of heart since Jackson came into the fold in the Knicks Corporation.
If the gold two time gold medalist decides to opt out of his contract, he can make more signing with the Knicks. He contract could be worth as much as $129 million in a five-year period. If he sings with anther team, the maximum he can make is $95.8 million over a four-year period, reported by ESPN.
