Spoke to @Sum41 Deryck today. I am so proud of him. He is family to me and always will be. #StayStrongDeryck

“I am so proud of him. He is family to me and always will be,” she tweeted on Saturday.
Whibley, who is the frontman of Canadian band Sum 41, posted on his website that his liver and kidney collapsed, following the “hard boozing” he had been engaging in the past few years, according to TheCelebrityCafe.com.
Lavigne, who has been touring and documenting her stops through Twitter and Instagram, was recently photographed in South America, reports the Daily Mail. Her recent posts include pictures taken with fans at a meet-and-greet, which drew negative reactions by several reports which called it “awkward” and “horrible.” She has also been under the spotlight after her “Hello Kitty” music video, despite receiving a positive response by fans in Japan, received negative feedback in the U.S.
Lavigne and Whibley were married for over three years. Their divorce was finalized in 2010 but they remain close friends. She is now married Nickelback's Chad Kroeger.
