Did you ever love someone so much that you thought they would be better off without you? Rather than let that love die, you end it too soon? Haunted by her family’s generational curse, Allie bolts from her September wedding. In her wake, she leaves a confused and devastated groom at the altar. Now, 4 months later her best friend, Hannah, makes her the maid of honor of her February wedding. By the way, Hannah is her ex grooms, Marcus, little sister. For four months, the two were able to evade each other. For the next five weeks, the two would be supporting someone they both loved dearly. Each wedding detail reminds both of them of the wedding that never happened. Regardless of Allie’s reasoning, they both still have feelings for each other. Is it possible to rekindle their romance, or will it have a similar end?
Betsy St. Amant’s A February Bride is different from the other Novellas, because it is dealing with generational curses and how real they feel to people. For the most part, Allie and Marcus have a great relationship. Allie restores furniture, and Marcus restores cars. Each sees the value in brining life back to something people cast aside. The fear of breaking his heart is too much for Allie. Every woman that has worn her grandmother’s wedding dress got divorced. Yet, each time these ladies remarried, they would use the same dress. Forced into this dress by her mother, aunt, and Grandmother Allie felt suffocated by this fact. Even though she cannot deny the rekindling feelings, she constantly reminds herself that she is not good for Marcus. Is this fear of a generational curse or does she think that she will never be happy. Some of this is psychological, but there are several passages in the bible that address this topic.
Overall, Betsy St. Amant’s A February Bride is about second chances, choices, and fear. With the divorce rate rising, the story is relatable and holds many lessons. The quick read is a nice Christian romance novella. The book is only available on Amazon for Kindle and audio. If you don’t have time to read it, play it in your car on a long drive. Don’t forget to add her to your Goodreads account. If you would like to connect with the author, Betsy St. Amant has a website and Facebook page.
