Times Square will be hosting an outdoor art show

An outdoor art show will be coming to Times Square this Summer. The outdoor spectacle will be put together by Art Everywhere.

At the Art Everywhere website, people can vote on their favorite pieces of art to be displayed in Times Square. Curators from museums have offered ideas for over 100 works from which to choose, including Jasper Johns' "Three Flags."

According to the LA Times, LACMA Director Michael Govan said, “Art Everywhere puts marvelously diverse American ideas and stories told through images in the open air with public involvement — reminding us of the many more great images that are accessible in our museums.”

Over 50 pieces of art work will be chosen to appear on billboards, bus shelters, subway posters, and more. People can vote on work by Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, Edward Hopper, and Georgia O’Keefe, according to the Associated Press. The artwork will then be seen on over 50,000 billboards, according to AM New York. The show will begin on August 8.
